Walt Disney World Magic Kingdom Secret Tunnels

Did you know that there’s a whole different world underneath Walt Disney World? When Walt Disney with designing Walt Disney World he wanted to be sure that the employees would not be seen out of character, so he created tunnels that incorporate break rooms, changing rooms, and even the cafeteria. The main tunnel starts on one side of the Railroad station and runs below Main Street, all the way to Cinderella’s Castle. They connect to all the theme areas except for Mickey’s town. The stairwells can be located behind Peco Bill’s Café and in Diamond Horseshoe. There are other stairways for the crew members to get to work.  Cast members get a bus that will take them to the Main tunnel entrance. Once they’ve entered the main tunnel they encounter  the sub-tunnel which takes employees to the changing areas. All the costumes are contained in this underground area, and laundered here too.

There is even a secret apartment somewhere inside the Cinderella Castle. If you see an unmarked door in the Disney world. It probably takes you to the tunnel system. There are  many hidden entrances that take the cast members through the tunnels and up again so they can  get from place to place. The tunnel complex goes around Magic Kingdom like a wheel and goes through all the other lands. Cinderella’s Castle actually has two floors that goes into the tunnel area.

This is one of the reasons why you never see trucks coming in and out of Disney World because the access roads are included in the tunnel area. All this was done to maximize the guests experience in Disney World.

Walt Disney was a genius in a very thoughtful me and when he decided to cover up all the unnecessary things. Guess don’t want to see, such as trash, utilities, and deliveries. This is you don’t see those things.

For more information and fun facts. You can go to www.hiddenmickeys.org it includes a list of tunnels from their internal phone book. So on your next visit to Disney, be sure to catch a glimpse of the unmarked door and see who’s coming through.
